Recapture for [#24658](https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/pull/24658), baseline [36d4d711b79c](https://github.com/pingdotgg/t3code/commit/36d4d711b79c73eb33131944f73ea4a8c6156484), candidate [adf56b5b8a2e](https://github.com/pingdotgg/t3code/commit/adf56b5b8a2ee2f003aa53e705604cc0e26dead3). **R2, R3 and R5 replaced; R1 and R4 recording/headline content and links are reused unchanged from the prior section.** No PR body, application code, checkout, commit or database from another run was changed. All new state is synthetic.
**Result:** R2, R3 and R5-B are whole-viewport pixel-identical at both thresholds. R5-A/C differ only inside the streamed preview viewport. **Unrelated residual pixels: 0 for every new pair**, at >0 and >16. R4 retains the accepted inherited-snapshot exception: its adopted child remains behind the pre-existing Idle overlay; visible child appearance and window.opener remain UNVERIFIED.
**Environment, new captures:** Linux x86_64 VM fs-21; Playwright 1.60.0; headless viewer Chromium 148.0.7778.96 with --no-sandbox; 1440×1000 whole viewport, DPR 1, 16px root, zoom 1, reduced motion, explicit Light app appearance, scroll at top. App-installed server renderer Google Chrome for Testing headless-shell 156.0.8078.70; native Light observed in System, GPU disabled, renderer scale factor 2, default profile, Fill viewport, preview zoom 100%. Fixed viewer Date 2026-10-27T15:25:00Z is installed before first app navigation on both sides, with normal timers. Fresh homes: T3CODE_DEV_SEED=0. Builds ran sequentially on identical web/server ports 6733/14773; fixture port 49173. No live database or userdata file contents were read; no VITE origin override or provider turn. Reused R1/R4 retain the prior environment and capture provenance.
**Determinism:** the synthetic fixture displays a fixed token derived from its case; R5-A/B/C have distinct fixed labels. Its real random load UUID exists only in a non-displayed property. Tab IDs, recording actions and zero media-change counters support persistence. R2 keeps the real Files → Open file in preview browser path; its capability expiry/signature still differ normally, but the visible common URL prefix is identical at this viewport: **0 address-bar or page residue**. No masking, cropping, excluded regions or alignment adjustments. Sidebar ages read now on both sides.
**Settled stills and diffs:** network idle, fonts ready, then two byte-identical whole-viewport PNGs 500ms apart. Diff0 highlights maximum RGB-channel delta >0; DiffT >16 (0–255 levels), magenta over the after image at 25% brightness. Every new published still, diff and sheet was opened and visually reviewed before upload. Recordings were decoded and inspected at action milestones and the final holds.
**R1 headline — saved default Dark, same born Browser tab and loaded fixture.** At 390px the Browser is open in its right-panel sheet: outer width ~343.19px, streamed viewport ~342.19×715; at 1440px it is 539×875. R1 uses the same displayed synthetic `proof-document-24658` token on both sides for a comparable fixture. The viewer theme changes the app UI; it does not change the server renderer’s native Light.

**What else changed (visible, new pairs):**
- R2: no settled pixels change. Both pages remain Light. The appearance menu and outgoing request establish explicit Light on the candidate; the settled page alone cannot distinguish System from explicit Light.
- R3: no settled pixels change. Both native-Light pages remain Light. The real terminal link produces an explicit System request/snapshot on the candidate.
- R5: only A/C preview backgrounds, foregrounds and LIGHT → DARK probe text change. B stays Light and has zero highlighted pixels. Fixed document labels, address bar, sidebar and app chrome are identical. A/B persistence after default changes is in the recording and retained tab IDs; the published B stills show its first load under saved Light, as in the prior round.
- Load/menu/Settings durations differ naturally. R5 bottom captions explicitly identify fixture API preparation and are evidence annotations, not product UI.
**Reused R1/R4 visible observations, unchanged:**
- R1: preview background/foreground and `dark = false (LIGHT)` → `dark = true (DARK)` text change, including their associated rasterization. At threshold zero, **no pixels outside the preview viewport change** in any of the four headline pairs. The app chrome is pixel-identical for each matching viewer theme/viewport.
- R4: both openers visibly become Dark through the unchanged per-tab menu before the trusted popup click. Each has a different synthetic UUID. Both adopted-child stills show the same Idle/Recently used overlay and are pixel-identical at threshold zero. No visible child appearance or opener-relationship success is claimed.
**Current navigation:** Settings → Browser → Advanced → Default browser appearance. The web control is disabled (“Only available in the desktop app”). R5 persists defaults through the production settings API and shows disabled control readbacks Dark → Light → Dark. It never claims an enabled Settings click.
**Recording pairs and elapsed timestamps:** all new clips are 1440×1000 Light viewer. Tables record real CDP elapsed time; 25fps encoding/frame arrival imposes normal quantization. Final holds are retained.
**R1 — PASS — baseline omits appearance and loads Light; candidate born snapshot and request carry Dark and load DARK=true. Address navigation keeps the born tab ID; no per-tab appearance override.**
