# Reproduction for [#16096](https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/issues/16096)

Base: [6e79211743](https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/commit/6e792117436662208bf2b6eb71ee8d0d88817e43) (current origin/main at reproduction).
Environment: fs-38 Linux x86_64, vp run dev --no-seed, real web client in T3 collaborative browser, 1280x800, light, no emulation.

Setup: vp install. First dev startup tried read-only live DB snapshot migration and failed due conflicting migration IDs 68/69; it then started successfully with fresh isolated .t3 state. Started once to create default project/thread and schema, stopped, ran seed.mjs, message.mjs, run.mjs in order, restarted. Fresh incognito profile avoided prior cached empty thread. No live DB writes.

Markdown fixture: bare Chinese path Summer 2026/pastexam/線性代數/2025_midterm_exam1_易志偉_1222.pdf, same percent encoded, ./ workaround, bare 線性代數.pdf, ASCII ascii.pdf. All files exist under isolated .t3/files project.

Observed: literal and percent-encoded bare paths rendered ordinary anchors with target=_blank and href Summer%202026/pastexam/%E7%B7%9A%E6%80%A7%E4%BB%A3%E6%95%B8/2025_midterm_exam1_%E6%98%93%E5%BF%97%E5%81%89_1222.pdf. Clicking reported bare path did not open file viewer. Bare Chinese filename likewise ordinary anchor. ./ workaround and ASCII control rendered file chips. Clicking ./ workaround opened asset-backed PDF surface named 2025_midterm_exam1_易志偉_1222.pdf.

Limitation: server-drawn browser's PDF surface shows 'This PDF is displayed in the connected client' and browser embed plugin unavailable, so document contents were not verified here. The path-classification failure and successful file-surface navigation are observable independently.

Red proof: vp test run packages/shared/src/markdownLinks.test.ts, 3 failed / 34 passed. Expected Chinese path, received undefined for literal/encoded path and bare Chinese filename. Test commit [3ac2bc9672](https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/commit/3ac2bc9672).
